Parking
Turn east into the driveway that is immediately left of the driveway to #657 Sudbury Road. There is lot parking area on the left, owned by the Walden Woods Project. We walked straight ahead on the road to Robinson well to access trails.
Hike
We took the tarmac path straight ahead into the woods heading to the Water Station then kept left past to the trailhead marked by a large boulder. The ground was sometimes uneven so it’s worth wearing light hiking boots (rather than flip-flops my son’s footwear of choice – eye-roll) for the 3.2-miles there and back trip. With some roots and a narrow path cut into sloping terrain, The trip straight to Fairhaven Bay and back took 1 hour 20-minutes roundtrip at a gentle pace.
Wright Woods covering 2,000 acres of woodland and, river and ponds. We took the red trail straight ahead always keeping Sudbury river to the right around the base of Fairhaven Hill and past an old chimney stack. The occasional inclines made the walk more challenging, but the views of the river made it worthwhile. As we reached the last downhill, the path takes you across a private garden right to the edge of Fairhaven Bay. For the best views, we followed the shoreline across to the Old Boathouse for a water stop before heading back.
Here is a trail map.
Other Recommendations: Light, waterproof hiking boots, lots of water on a hot day.
