Hike

We followed the main path about a 1/2 mile straight ahead on the former rail track to Stone Arch Bridge. Built by the railroad in 1872, it’s constructed out of granite blocks no mortar. The views from high up to the left and right of Stony Brook were stunning,

We were feeling adventurous and scrambled down the bank to the river’s edge to take in those blocks. There are 2 trails just after the bridge that offers a more sensible gradual descent to the waterfront. The graffiti on the bridge arch is a real shame but don’t let that spoil the view and serenity of this special place. Out and back took 45 minutes with stops..

My teenagers reworded this trip – “Great box of scones”. Muffins on Main in Westford center was a tasty reward for the car ride home. The shop has some authentic old American charm.
