Hike
From the car, we walked the East Bog Loop across the field straight ahead before turning right to follow the edge of trees then left at the small pond into the woods. The shade was much appreciated on a hot day for the dogs and teens. The path straight ahead took us right to the edge of Baptist Ponds full of water lilies, reeds, and gurgling frogs. We continued left along the edge of the pond until it opened out into an enormous pond.
Apparently it is a local spot for dogs to swim. We talked to a lady playing fetch with a very happy cool dog in the water chasing a tennis ball. On the walk back, there were lots of water channels, apparently, these fields are flooded using water from the pond to farm cranberries. Harvest is September to November so we’ll be back to see how it’s done!
It’s a flat 2.5-mile loop on compacted earth paths that took 50 minutes at strolling pace.
