Hike

We took the path headed for the Pond Loop. Keeping left we reached Fairyland Pond in 5 minutes on a wide flat trail. The Pond was so quiet and still with no signs of modern life.

We saw a family of mallard ducks, heard frogs croaking, and a babbling brook which fed into the pond meandering through wetlands. We even found a toadstool mushroom straight out of a Grim’s fairytales. Apparently Emerson’s children and friends including Louise May Alcott author of Little Women played here as a child. Thoreau and Emerson also took regular walks through the woods. Within 50 minutes we were back in the car.
